August 14, 2019 – Hong Kong SAR, P.R. China: Tonight protestors assembled outside of Sham Shui Po police station and antagonized police within the station with laser pointers. Police consider the laser pointers to be offensive weapons, even arresting people on the street who have been found possessing them. Police responded with several rounds of tear gas and a large dispersal operation. Hong Kongers are demanding complete withdrawal of the controversial extradition bill that would allow Hong Kong people to be tried in Mainland China, appoint an independent commision into brutality and accustions of collusion with organized crime known as Triads, total recall of the riot accusations against protestors, and free and drop all charges against protestors, and implementation of universal sufferage. Hong Kong is filled with tension between cultures, class, and political ideas.

The dichotomy that exists between the reality of the city and the way propaganda depicts is evident in the streets where people mingle on the periphery of protests or walk the streets scarred with traumatic memories; sometimes participating actively and other times passively in the drama that is unfolding.
